Position Description:

Job Responsibilities
The Global Manager of Compensation will play a key role in the design, development, implementation and administration of the company's worldwide compensation programs. This includes base salary and variable compensation programs for an organization that is both collaborative and fast paced. The priority is to ensure that the company's compensation processes, plans, programs and tools are world class, competitive and, most importantly, support business strategy, enhance organizational capability and foster employee engagement. He/she will serve as a thought leader on global compensation philosophy and innovative compensation schemes, working closely with the Global Director of Compensation, Benefits and HRIS, the SVP of Human Resources, and the firm's Compensation Committees. He/she also will oversee administration of current compensation programs. This position is expected to provide thorough analytical and economic analysis as well as the relevant benchmarking necessary to evaluate and justify changes in practice and the adoption of new programs.
  • Develop an understanding of Wellington Management's global operations, business priorities, culture and values in order to represent and influence global compensation requirements.
  • Assess the current status of the company's various global compensation plans, programs, processes, tools, and communication, including initiatives to determine market competitiveness, ease of administration, and alignment with business strategy.
  • Continue to advance existing work to fully automate the firm's compensation data and analytics, with a strong emphasis on implementing changes where necessary.
  • Take stock of the current function with an eye to building on an already strong and highly respected team within the organization. The goal is to continue to build on the robustness of the function and high quality client service.
  • Actively engage in new initiatives to define the compensation and recognition opportunities at Wellington Management. Contribute ideas and lessons learned in prior experience in driving compensation effectiveness and enhancing employee excellence through the various compensation programs.
  • Establish credibility with senior business leaders through demonstrating an understanding of their business challenges and through sharing relevant solutions and opportunities for compensation effectiveness.
  • Work in a global organization effectively. In addition to being a key member of the HR leadership team, this executive will work with the global offices to meet their unique regional needs.
  • Manage and participate in an effective and well organized Mid-Year and Year-End compensation process.
  • Prepare and present compensation materials to Wellington's two Compensation Committees.


Job Qualifications

  • Recognized compensation expert with 10 - 15 years experience designing and implementing innovative compensation plans both in the U.S. and in major international markets within highly respected global corporations or professional service organizations
  • Accomplished in conceptualizing and designing total compensation strategy and initiatives that enable the build out of a world-class investment workforce
  • Strategic track record of successfully implementing creative, world-class total compensation programs and effective delivery systems that have a clear impact on the performance of the organization
  • Outstanding leader with a track record of attracting and developing a top-flight team, and building trust and rapport quickly. Ability to articulate vision and direction, communicate effectively, and manage and measure team performance and accountability is required. High energy is critical with a willingness to 'roll up their sleeves' and get the job done.
  • Understanding of business strategies, competitive challenges and the financial impact of HR decisions. Strategic thinking and decision-making skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mind-set are essential.
  • Interpersonal awareness and executive presence; can build relationships across functions, geographies and levels.
  • Highly developed partnering skills and broad organizational savvy; demonstrates the ability to listen, negotiate and build consensus among key decision makers
  • Effective and comfortable leading initiatives in a dynamic mission-driven environment
  • Track record of success and impact in complex investment organizations with a high performance work culture
  • Bachelors degree (Masters Degree preferred)
  • CCP certification desired
